The Band
Northern Lights’ unique sound is derived from a combination of individual styles and is based on our Northumbrian, Irish and Scottish heritage. This makes for a variety of exciting and lively music for your evening ceilidh!
For your event we will provide a dance caller along with four or five musicians. Our instruments include fiddle, flute, melodeon, guitar, piano and concertina – all our musicians are experienced and highly competent players. We are also happy to provide background music as guests arrive, or during supper.
We will take you through a variety of dances including Strip the Willow, The Gay Gordon’s, The Dashing White Sergeant, Virginia Reel, as well as some circle and square dances. We may also include a waltz, a barn dance and some beautiful melodies simply for listening.
We have a sophisticated sound system, lighting, and a roving microphone, should you need one for speeches and announcements. We can play indoors and outdoors in both large and small venues, our equipment is PAT-tested and we carry public liability insurance.
